Our organization strives to educate and promote the principals of historic preservation. Hackettstown War Memorial![]() The Hackettstown War Memorial was established in 1763. It contains remains of 29 Revolutionary War Patriots from Hackettstown (Helms' Mill Area). Hackettstown Alliance for Drug Prevention![]() Since 1989 The Hackettstown Alliance for Drug Prevention has been addressing the challenge of substance abuse in Hackettstown area citizens of all ages. The Alliance is a volunteer committee with representation from Hackettstown Public Schools, St. Mary’s School, Hackettstown Community Hospital, Hackettstown Police Department, Hackettstown PTA, St. Mary’s Home School Association, Centenary College, the Hackettstown Area Chamber of Commerce and The Star Gazette. The committee selects substance abuse programs that will provide a broad-based prevention effort in our community. The Musconetcong Watershed Association![]() The Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of the Musconetcong River Watershed, including its natural and cultural resources. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Warren County![]() Big Brothers Big Sisters of Warren County matches boys and girls ages 6-17 with caring, professionally-screened adult volunteers. Volunteers serve as friends, mentors and role models, helping children (who are primarily from single-parent homes) gain greater self-confidence. Hayford State Fish Hatchery![]() The facility raises such species as channel catfish, walleye, muskellunge, northern pike, tiger muskie, lake trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, hybrid striped bass and various others. For some species, staff collects broodstock from area lakes. Bluegill sunfish are raised to supply to children's fishing derbies, and gambusia, or "mosquitofish," are raised to supply to county mosquito control commissions. We always have a variety of dogs and cat in our care. We are not a shelter but a no kill rescue group. We take dogs out of the pounds. Age is not a factor in our rescue. We find homes for all our animals no matter how long it takes. We are a not-for-profit organization that has been providing volunteer tutoring services for adults in Sussex County for over 20 years, and more recently to the Northern Warren County area. We have several tutors and students in Hackettstown, so we hope that inclusion on your website will help spread the word to those who need our help as well as those who would like to help.
