A message from Mayor Maria DiGiovanni
It is hard to believe that the Holidays are here! 2019 has flown by and now that it is December; we are right into budget time! All Town departments must submit their requested budgets no later than December 15 for review by myself and our Town CFO. Hackettstown continues to be a debt free town; utilizing our Capital Improvement Plan and Reserve to fund our improvements, equipment and necessary items.
I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy our downtown during this holiday season. The Town looks wonderful and festive. Please try to stop into our shops, restaurants and micro-breweries for some holiday cheer with your friends and neighbors. Shopping local helps our economy and our Town continue to grow!
In 2020; look for some exciting upgrades to our Tannery Baseball Field; as the field becomes NCAA compliant. The majority of the improvements have been funded by a very generous Hackettstown Resident; Steve Somers. We cannot thank him and his family enough for their generosity.
Hackettstown, along with the rest of the 565 New Jersey Municipalities will be receiving a seedling from The Salem Oak; a 600-year-old tree that was in Salem, NJ and was the tallest white oak tree in NJ. The tree unexpectedly fell in June. The NJDEP made the announcement about the seedlings at our recent League of Municipalities Mayor’s luncheon. We expect to receive our seedling around the time of Earth Day and will, for sure; keep everyone informed of when and where we will plant it.
At this time; I would like to sincerely thank our Town employees who work so hard day in and day out to keep Hackettstown running smoothly.
I wish you all the joy and happiness of the season, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah. All the best in 2020 for a happy and healthy New Year.
I sincerely thank you for the continued support and trust you have placed in me; it is truly an honor to be Mayor. As always, I welcome your input into our Town; I can be reached at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 908-852-3130.
Very truly yours,
Mayor, Town of Hackettstown
